surprised", Mar

Such
a great a place I couldn't rave about it enough!!! We had an
AMAZING time there. We kind of never plan so we can never expect
and ended up just seeing a road sign so we decided to check
it out. We were really impressed when we arrived as the place
boasts large rooms of varied selection, expansive views, cool
climate and very relaxing ambience. We booked a tour each day
and were given a biliengual and very informative tour guide.
The hotel restaurant is a nice perk as we came back every evening
exhausted from the all day tours and were treated with some
very tasty treats at the peaceful restaurant. I will be coming
back again. I would like to thank all the staff for the wonderful
hospitality.
"Paradise
in Costa Rica", Feb 9, 2007
My
husband and I had our wedding at El Cafetal a few weeks
ago. We had never visited the property in person before
deciding to have it there, so we were a little nervous.
There was no need to worry as everything was perfect. Lee
and Romy, the owners, and all their staff went above and
beyond to make our wedding a huge success. All of our guests
loved their rooms, gained weight from eating the fantastic
breakfasts and fell in love with the resident dogs, Chuy
and Panda. All of the staff were beyond friendly and extremely
helpful to ourselves and all of our guests (all 38 of us).
The pool is beautiful, the view from the hotel is fantastic
and there are lots of places to just sit and relax and enjoy
the perfect weather. By the end of the week we didn't want
to leave and felt like we were part of the family. If you
like acomodations with a bed and breakfast atmosphere and
a laid back but helpful vibe then this is the place for
you.
"Elegant
tranquility", Dec 27, 2006
I
stayed here three days. The views from the foothill on which
this wonderful hotel sits are magnificent, in every direction.
(Haze shrouded mountains, hummingbirds--was that a macaw?--an
Iguana for sure--as well as colorful flowers and shrubs everywhere.)
One disappointment (not really): A sign points to a "Monkey"
site, but I never saw any. My room was spacious, beautifully
appointed and quite comfortable. The breakfasts, buffet style,
were tasty and generous. Thanks, El Cafetal, for the secluded
patio where I could enjoy my Havana cigar without guilt, but
particulaly for your warm, generous hospitality.
"Magic",

Recently
stayed at El Cafetal Inn for one week while touring Costa Rica's
Central Valley. My flight arrived late at night and I was pleased
to see that their driver was there to pick me up on time (I
wasn't so lucky with another hotel on my previous visit to Costa
Rica). Despite my late arrival, and off-season reservation,
someone was at the hotel to greet me and to show me to my room.
I chose one of their new rooms, The Bungalow, by the pool and
next to their new restaruant; it was spacious, had a large modern
bathroom, a kitchenette and a dining table outside on the balcony.
The morning revealed a gorgeous view from my balcony of
the surrounding mountains and countryside. Breakfast was served
at 8am and was simply amazing: at least 10 different items were
served for the buffet. It was by far the best breakfast I've
had anywhere in my many travels...and it was included in the
price of the room! I decided to relax my first day and lounged
by the pool, had a great lunch at their restaurant (new, I've
been told) Rincon Llanero and had a chance to speak with one
of the owners. Lee was overflowing with excitement to tell me
about all of the new improvements that she and her husband Romy
had recently completed. The new building by the pool, which
houses the restaurant and the 4 suites built above it, is the
most welcome addition for them, as is their new chef who comes
with experience from several fine restaruants in Canada.
They
also had re-tiled the pool, re-decorated the main rooms, added
new modern lighting to the outside areas and hired more and
better-trained staff. Despite being located in one of the safest
areas of Costa Rica, all doors can now be locked. Lee explained
that she is constantly taking the feedback from her guests,
always with the intention of improving what the Inn has to offer.
It was wonderful, and rare in my exprience, to be able to sit
and have lunch with the owner of a hotel and to learn that they
are proactive and concerned on a day-to-day level instead of
simply being "investors." Over the week I stayed,
I could not have been more impressed: everything from the food
to the service to the tours I requested were all handled with
professionalism, attention to detail and -- above all -- the
friendliness which Costa Rica is known for. Highly, highly recommended.
